Optimalist uses biofeedback to give you an objective measurement of your stress, and helps you determine how different activities affect your emotional state. There’s this thing called Heart Rate Variability (HRV). It indicates the state of your autonomic nervous system (ANS). Optimalist can read your HRV with a quick scan of your finger via your phone camera and give you a real time reading of your body’s stress level. By taking that reading before and after different activities, you can track what works for you, and what’s helping you achieve your optimal state. What happens at the optimal state? Your mind is clear, so you can make better decisions. Your reflexes and muscles are ready to act, so your hand-eye coordination improves and your movements get more accurate. Your mood is stable, so you’ll be less likely to lose your cool. Training your body to reach a physiologically optimal state allows you to be the best you.
Optimalist has two modes: 1) Stress check, one minute measurement of your stress levels; 2) Optimize, that recommends a paced breathing exercise while doing your activity of choice. You can track your body’s response to anything from work related activities, to taking a walk, to listening to your favorite podcast. This will help your ANS get back on the right track. Optimalist is all about getting objective data on what works for you.
